About us

English Cafe Malta organizes many types of regular events for the international community in Malta since 2014! Our mission is helping people to connect, have fun and grow!

We have a lot of energy, passion and dynamism, but at the same time we are also very organized, reliable and effective. We are an international and young team with an open mind and friendly attitude.

JOBS

Event Executive - PART/FULL TIME (20-40 hrs. weekly)

You are definitely a people’s person, energetic, friendly and with an international background. You love to meet new people, to put a smile on their face, to help them to feel part of something!

But you are also reliable, effective and you get things done. You are indeed understanding the event dynamics and its organization.

And it does not end here: you are also confident in the next future in taking on new challenges and responsibilities, like managing a team and creating new events.

Ultimately, you plan to stay in Malta for the middle/long term, you are serious about working in the event industry and you are passionate about what English Cafe is doing.

  • Setting up/collecting the material before/after the event 
  • Registering and cashing the guests
  • Welcoming, greeting and matching our guests in groups
  • Coordinating our social activities, games, karaoke, etc.

If the opportunity would arise and you have the skillset and motivation, the intention for the selected candidate would be to gradually add responsibilities and hours into the role: from a Part-Time (20 hrs) to a Full-Time (40 hrs). Managing the Team, creating new events, overlooking marketing, speaking with the partners are just example of what the position may evolve into.

  • Indefinite basis
  • 5 days a week, 20 hours per week (starting)
  • Evening work mostly from 19:00 to 23:00 (time of our events)
  • Working areas: venues of our events, in the central area of Malta: Sliema & St. Julian’s.
  • Despite not required, we suggest living in the central area for transportation purposes
  • The role is offered initially on a Part Time Basis with the future option to increase steadily the number of hours from 20 to 40  with further tasks and responsibilities.
Team Member - CASUAL BASIS (4-12 hrs. weekly)
You love to meet new people, to put a smile on their face, to help them to feel part of something! You are definitely a people’s person, but you are also understanding the event dynamics and its organization. You can indeed combine your spontaneous social skills with a plan of actions. You are in Malta, and you are already busy with your English studies, University or a job, nevertheless, you have got some spare hours that you want to dedicate to a side project. If the opportunity would arise and you have the skillset, motivation and time you may also be partly involved (1/2 days per week | for 4/8 hours extra) into the Digital Marketing & Admin Operations through a variety of other duties (e.g., Posting in social media, stories/video/reels creation, answering guests messages and emails, sharing in FB groups, designing templates, etc). This would generally take place in the morning.

  • Indefinite basis | minimum preferred length to be considered for the job is 6 months. 
  • You need to commit at least 2 fixed days per week (minimum 8 hours per week)
  • Evening work mostly from 19:00 to 23:00 (time of our events)
  • Working areas: venues of our events, in the central area of Malta: Sliema & St. Julian’s.
  • Despite not required, we suggest living in the central area for transportation purposes
  • This is a paid opportunity, but it does not represent a way to fully sustain yourself economically in Malta or to get a work permit. Just a side project.

INTERNSHIPS

INTERNSHIP: Event Coordinator

If you are interested in exploring the event industry from a full perspective, you may also be partly involved (1/2 days per week | for 4/8 hours extra) into the Digital Marketing & Admin Operations through a variety of other duties (e.g., Posting in social media, stories/video/reels creation, answering guests messages and emails, sharing in FB groups, designing templates, etc). This would generally take place in the morning.

  • Able to commit for 3/4 months preferably.  Ideally for 6 months. (Candidates with longer commitment will have priority)
  • 20/30 hours per week, 5 days a week.
  • Most of the work will take place in the evening from 19:00 to 23:00 (time of our events)
  • The internship will be carried out in the venues of our events, in the central area of Malta: Sliema & St. Julian’s.
  • Our internships are unpaid in principle. You should apply for the Erasmus scholarship (or similar) with your university or use your personal funds to embrace this learning experience.
  • We are not able to actively take care of your accommodation, but we can provide you general advice for your search.

INTERNSHIP: Digital Marketing
You are eager to learn and take responsibility over the execution of the marketing operations of our epic events as well as suggesting new strategies and tactics to bring our community to the next level. You are looking for a rewarding experience under the supervision of an expert with space for creativity, execution and initiative. Interested? Apply!
  • Posting in social media (including researching content)
  • Text creation according to English Café’s tone of voice.
  • Designing templates and posts for feeding our social media
  • Stories/Video/Reels creation
  • Answering guests messages and emails
  • Commenting, engaging, interacting through social media with other guests/pages
  • Sharing in FB groups
  • Running FB/Google Ads
  • Updating our website
  • Optional: planning new events and suggesting improvement for our operations
  • And many more duties aimed at improving the growth of our brand and community.
  • English level at least B2 preferably.
  • Any experience with FB Business Suit, Canva, FB Ads, Google ads, WordPress is a plus
  • Any experience in content creation and video editing is a plus
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Very organized and reliable.

If you are in Malta and you are interested in exploring the event industry from a full perspective, you can also be partly involved (1/2 days per week | for 4/8 hours per week) into the real time events operations through a variety of other duties (e.g., cashing and registering, welcoming, greeting and matching our guests, taking pics, coordinating the games and karaoke, coordinate our hikes etc). This would generally take place during the evening from 19:00 to 23:00

  • Able to commit for 6 months preferably. Absolute minimum is 3 months. (Candidates with longer commitment will have priority)
  • 20/30 hours per week, 5 days a week.
  • The internship can be carried out remotely. The work is mainly coordinated online with video calls. Physical meetings with the team are mainly for leisure.
  • If the internship takes place fully remotely, you need to have your own laptop and a comfortable physical space to be able to work properly
  • Despite it is not required, being in Malta (even for only a part of the internship) is a big plus: indeed, you would have the chance to participate and feel our events’ spirit and learn much more.
  • Our internships are unpaid in principle. You should apply for the Erasmus scholarship (or similar) with your university or use your personal funds to embrace this learning experience.
  • In case you decide to come to Malta, we will not be able to actively take care of your accommodation, but we can provide you general advice for your search.
